HELLO, AND WELCOME TO OUR CORNER OF THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF PHOTOGRAPHY.
Both Angie and I like to take part in photographic competitions from club level right up to international level and, I'm pleased to say, with some success, Angie has gained her
EFIAP/platinum, DPAGB, CPAGB and BPE4*
while I have
EFIAP/platinum, DPAGB, CPAGB,and BPE4*
distinctions.
I am a PAGB listed judge as well as being
An MCPF recognised A-listed judge.
I am now available for bookings for clubs.
We also have a choice of lectures that we give to clubs - you can see the details on the talks page.
I'm originally from Abertillery in South Wales, and I grew up in the West Midlands (but I’m still proud to be Welsh), and currently live near Walsall in the West Midlands.
I started taking pictures some years ago, but this fell to the wayside when I became the deputy editor of a national magazine, writing the words and taking pictures for each issue.
Unfortunately, the picture taking simply became a formulaic exercise with no artistic input being required and it was hard to keep being enthusiastic over the pictures.
It was not until I left that job and bought my first digital SLR, a brand new Canon EOS 350D, that my interest in the world of photography was re-kindled and at the same time, I started to develop an interest in the digital darkroom side of things.
I derive great pleasure from simply sitting down and messing around with a picture on the computer to see how I can improve it and have subsequently become an affiliate for ON1 RAW photo editing software, as well as enjoying helping others who want to improve their photographic skills.
My wife Angie, my life-long soulmate, was also interested in photography, so I bought her her first digital SLR, a Canon EOS 400D. This was one of the best things I’ve done.
Now, with us both having the same interest in photography, it means we can each explore the world through our own lenses (plus it means we each have a ready photographic partner to spend days out and about with)!
We both still use Canon EOS cameras
And we have recently made the move to Canon mirrorless camera with a Canon EOS R5 and an R6 each.
We also have an infra-red converted Canon 7D.
Why Canon? Well, simply because we like the ergonomics and general feel of them, plus Canon cameras have always given us good service out in the field
Something we have done, and I would heartily recommend to any newbie, is join a camera club, because going to weekly meetings with other like-minded folk, helps to keep your appetite whetted while, looking at other people's photographs, really does help you develop an 'eye' for your own photography.
While I no longer take pictures as my day job, I do the occasional commission depending on time and commitments, so please feel free to contact me. I regularly help out with tuition and lectures at my local clubs and am always willing to pass on my findings to others.
If you want to contact us about anything you've seen on here, or if I can help in any way, please feel free to do so, using the contact page, and we will get back to you shortly.
